History of Kedarnath:

Kedarnath and its temple exist from the Mahabharata Era when the Pandavas are supposed to have pleased Lord Shiva by doing penance there.Kedarnath is rebuild by Adi Shankracharya.This temple is build by Pandvas in Treta yug, When Pandvas was last age of their life they come on Kedarnath for sight of Lord Shiva , but Lord Shiva did not want to sight Padavas so Lord Shiva Left Kedarnath, After that pandavas make Five Templae in Kedarkhand , also known as Panch Kedar , Kedarnath is first one of panch kedar. How To Reach Kedarnath

You can reach Kedarnath by two way first is By foot for a steep 14 km trek through a paved path (horses or palanquins are available for rent) from Gaurikund, which is connected by road from Rishikesh, Haridwar, Dehradun and other known hill stations of Garhwal and Kumaon regions in Uttarakhand. Second by air Through air travel. KEDAR DARSHAN is a decent helicopter service operating from Gupt Kashi , Patha ,and Agustmuni .

Best Time to Travel :

The temple opens on Akshaya Tritiya (April end or first week of May) and closes on Bhai Duj (October end or 1st week of November) due to heavy snowfall and extreme cold weather during winter. You can come here in summer session, April to Augest is best for visit Kedarnath.During winter due to heavy snowfall, the Temple is closed and no one stays in Kedarnath. For six months (November to April) the Palki of Lord Kedarnath is transferred to a place Ukhimath.
