Clean Ganga campaign launched in Uttarakhand

Rishikesh, Apr 4 (PTI) BJP leader L K Advani today launched the Uttarakhand government's clean Ganga campaign here and asked people all over the country to play an active role in the conservation of the holy river.

Speaking after the launch of the campaign christened "Ganga Sparsh Abhiyan", Advani said it was imperative that people gave their wholehearted support for the success of the programme.

Expressing happiness at the state government's plans to make a law to keep the river clean, the BJP stalwart called for its strict implementation.

"I have been told that the state government is bringing a law on cleaning the Ganga river. I would like to ask the government to implement the law strictly," he said.

"The mahakumbh has become memorable largely due to the launching of the Sparsh Ganga programme," he said.
