SKF Haridwar unit on stream

SKF on Wednesday inaugurated a new factory in Haridwar that will serve the two wheeler manufacturers in Uttarakhand and contribute further to the growing vehicle aftermarket requirement of the country. The company's strategic move to increase production capacity through the Haridwar plant signifies its commitment to customers and will also allow it to increase the share in the developing vehicle aftermarket service segment, according to President and CEO Tom Johnstone.

The factory represents an investment of around Rs.150 crore and uses state-of-the-art machining technology to manufacture deep groove ball bearings (DGBB) for the vehicle sector. Situated over an area of 10 acres, the new factory will have a production capacity of 45 million bearings annually.

The factory will employ around 200 people when full capacity is reached.

The Haridwar unit is being modelled and built strictly to the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Green factory recommendations for energy efficiency.
