Dehra Dun, Oct 11 (PTI) With three key hydel projects on Bhagirathi being on hold, the VHP has once again opposed construction of these projects on the holy river in Uttarakhand and sought immediate ban on all of them.
The demand for the ban on hydel projects came after a high-level delegation of VHP led by its chief Ashok Singhal visited various hydel projects including the controversial 600Mw Lohari Nagpala which is at the centre of controversy on Bhagirathi river in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.
The VHP delegation included Janata Party President Subramaniyam Swami, who called for focusing on small hydel projects instead of big ones.
Talking to reporters at Uttarkashi yesterday evening, Singhal sought immediate ban on all the hydel projects on the river Bhagirathi.
